Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In our school, we have a very diversified population. Our students are here to learn the English language and to enhance their vocabulary.
Over 10 languages are spoken by parents in our school so what happens here is so very important to build successful students.
These students have economic challenges at home, therefore, providing them with a healthy snack and healthy activity only aids us in teaching them reading and enhancing their vocabulary.
These students are like little sponges. They want to learn everything and they are happy to be at school.
My Project
Our students have fluency passages with comprehension questions they can read and answer.
Fluency for students is something that is hard to learn.
Each student having their own set of headphones will give them extra help to only hear what is being read to them. Hearing it read correctly will help them to learn to read it correctly fluently.
Many of our students are ESL learners so they are wanting to learn and have the potential to make large gains. Helping the strugglers close the reading gap in our main focus. We want to give them the tools to succeed.
