This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach a very diverse group of 4th graders who show a deep love for learning as well as a deep determination to work hard to achieve success. They are the most excited and energetic group of learners I have ever come across. Not only are they committed to their learning, but they also show a deep understanding of one another and their differences.

Let me tell you a little bit about the 28 students that step foot into our classroom each and every day!

Of the 28 students I have, 5 have an identified special need, 7 need intervention services support, 4 receive speech services, and 7 are English language learners. All of my students, despite their differences, want all of their friends to succeed. Most of the time in our classroom there is a hum of soft whispers because students are continuing to help one another throughout the day. It's a community of collaborating learners where everyone supports and encourages each other in everything we do.

We consider our classroom a TEAM, where teamwork is the key to success!

My Project

The reading material I am requesting for my students will engage them in a fun and adventurous story. Your donations will help each student have their own copy and allow them to read along with me or read at their own pace.

With this classroom set of books, each student will be exposed to a classic fairy tale that many of us have read within our own lifetime.

Literacy is an important part of our classroom. I encourage my students to read for pleasure daily and to enjoy the books they choose. Peter Pan is a classic tale of a boy who never wants to grow up. Together, my students and I will read this novel and use our imagination just as Peter does in the novel. We will engage in summarizing each chapter along the way bringing both reading and writing together in our lessons. Please help my students to be exposed to a variety of texts including classic fairy tales, such as Peter Pan.
