This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is on a Reserve Base. We serve the children of our men and women serving in the United States military from all branches. Our school has over 1000 children that come from diverse military families. Children move every few years and have to start a new school because of the military parents' duty station transfer.

At our school, teachers and staff members strive to provide the best possible education to the military children that have to endure a new home, new school, and new friends every few years.

The mission of our school is to educate our military-dependent children, no matter what their background or previous school experience, to fully achieve their personal and academic potential through the acquisition of core knowledge and the skills of analysis, problem-solving, communication, and global responsibility.

My Project

Every year at Belle Chases Academy our students participate in the AR program to encourage reading for fun and learning. The student have a goal to reach every semester. The more you read and pass Reading Comprehension test the more points you get.

This programs encourages reading throughout our school.

The students Read books at their current level and take quizzes.

If a student reaches their reading goal 3 out of the 4 school quarters they are able to go to an end of the year carnival.

Funding for this event has been cut due to budget cuts at our school. We are asking for donations to purchase carnival prizes for the kids to have the end of the year reading carnival without having teachers pay for all the carnival expenses out of their own pockets.
