My Students

My students come from a community of poverty and disadvantages. Most of them are single family homes. Most are living paycheck to paycheck. We are at one of best charter schools on the Westside of Chicago. They have so many needs and obstacles to overcome. I’m trying make a little difference. I would like to introduce them to new things through books. I want them to know its oaky to be different. I would like to make sure my students are familiar and motivated by reading stories and seeing the accomplishments of every diverse culture. My goal is to obtain books about individuals that they can relate to.

My Project

These books will keep them learning while maintaining their interest, improve their vocabulary, show them that through adversity you can still achieve your goals in spite of your circumstances, teach them about their culture, inspire them to dream big and go after their dream, and show them it's okay to be different. Reading builds stamina. These books would also expose them to a whole new world to which they may not otherwise have access to. Help me give them to see a new world and through the gift of books,
