My students need more books that are at their level, so that they are able to increase their reading skills. Right now my classroom library has higher level books, and my students need lower level books.

My Students

My first grade students are very eager to learn! They love different activities that allow them to learn especially when technology is involved. They love to move around the classroom. Literacy and Math centers are a great way to incorporate fun learning activities and movement. So far my students are loving center time.

My first graders are fun and made the classroom feel like a community!

They are looking out for each other and constantly wanting to help me with various tasks. They are beginning to understand how to work together to accomplish various tasks. Their favorite part of learning is working with a partner or friend, especially sharing books they love.

My Project

All of the books that are purchased will go into my classroom library, so that my students are able to practice their reading skills. My students practice reading individually and with a partner daily. They need more books that are lower Lexile levels (Kindergarten and First Grade) so that they are able to become effective readers.

In order for my students to become effective readers, they need books that they can easily read and comprehend.

Fluency and comprehension are connected. I want my students to be more fluent readers so that they can comprehend more books. This will be accomplished through the books picked out on this project.
