My students need a rug and an easel. Meeting on our reading rug will teach them social skills, responsibility and most of all to depend on each other as a community and citizens.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
They say it takes a village to raise a child, well it also takes one to educate a classroom!
I am the proud teacher of 20 smart and creative, underprivileged, minority students.
Over 90% of them are Latino and speak English as a second language. They come from an area of high poverty. However, they come to class ready to learn. My class of second graders are a lively bunch with a bright future.
My students eagerly come into class everyday ready to learn and succeed. They enjoy participating and collaborating in group discussions and reading aloud. Any additional resources that can be provided to my students will enhance their learning experience, help close the gap, and meet their academic goals. My second graders are the most adorable, smart, and creative students who just need a hand to flourish and become a better students everyday.
My Project
My second grade classroom is composed of 20 students. Each student possesses a variety of different strengths and weaknesses. I based my selection of items on things that will keeep them focus and organize. My main goal is to provide all of them with the adequate help to succeed. Having an easel and a rug will help them in many different ways. Meeting at the rug for our morning meetings will help them build social skills, responsibility, and most of all to depend on each other to get answers before asking me. Building a classroom community is the best way for my students to succeed academically and socially.
