My Students

I teach a diverse group of foutth graders who are energetic and active learners. This group is part of a student centered learning environment where they are given learning choices and collaborate daily. They love working together to solve problems and create fantastic projects. Collaboration drives their curious minds to question the why and how of everything! They love to tell jokes, share stories, and work together to complete amazing projects!

High energy and collaborative; my students feel best about their learning when they are able to make choices about how they learn.

Students use flexible seating to make choices about how and where they learn. The classroom becomes a comfortable and equitable environment allowing students to learn in a way they feel most benefits them. Students have an opportunity to problem solve and seek solutions through seating choice and the evaluation of their learning needs.

My Project

Bookshelves for our reading corner will make such a difference for students in the classroom! These bookshelves will give students the ability to see books in an organized way so they can easily select from different titles and genres. Students in our classroom love to spend time in the library area of our room and these bookshelves add to the sense of organization and comfort in that area. Many of our students do not have access to books outside of school so their reading experience happens in the classroom!

When students walk into a book area that is organized and books are accessible to them, students are able to find the joy of getting lost in a book.

I love seeing the way students respond when we get new titles in the classroom; however, it is just as important to find a place to put them! We greatly appreciate the thought and care we receive from those who help us make this happen!
