Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are from the inner city and come from many different backgrounds. For many of my students, coming to kindergarten is the first exposure they get to education. This DonorsChoose.org project will supply me with more resources to help my students learn and progress in kindergarten.

My students are sweet and put the kind in kindergarten.

They are eager to learn and grow. Every day​ they come to school with a smile on their face and a desire to make their teacher and parents happy. I have a great group of students that are full of personality and make me laugh on a regular basis. They have excellent participation and they get along well with each other and play nicely together.

I believe my students deserve everything their little hearts desire and anything that will help them progress academically, emotionally, and socially to get them ready for first grade.

My Project

The listening and comprehension program will give my students a chance to listen to passages read aloud and then answer comprehension questions. It allows my students more opportunities to hear fiction and nonfiction text. Students can also practice switching sounds in CVC words with fun pictures. Even the nonreaders can participate with success. The touch and sound cards give​ the students plenty of practice with touching the textured dots and sounding out the words.

These will make nice additions to center time.

Each child can listen and follow along. It builds collaboration and the activities are fun and engaging for the students.
