Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach at a Title I school in Orlando, Florida. All of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. Many students receive backpack food for the weekend, and we also have a food pantry and clothes donations for our families. My students are eager to learn, and they are very bright and full of potential and always do their best. The children work hard and are always very excited to learn. They get super excited and happy when they realize how much they have learned.
My Project
I want my students to have the opportunity to learn and have fun at the same time. The materials I chose will be part of their center’s experience. Phonics games, writing activities, puzzles, all activities that are engaging and purposeful. For many of my students, kindergarten is their first experience in a classroom setting. These centers are a fun way to help them learn, letters, rhyming, phonemic awareness, and cooperation. Also, many students are learning English so it is wonderful to provide them with visuals. These resources are colorful, high quality, and will keep the children interested in what they are working on.
