Help me give my students engaging activities such as digraph building tubs and other hands-on activities that they can work together on with their groups during our reading centers.
My students are eager to learn, energetic, and come to school excited every day! They absolutely love books and read-aloud time is their favorite time of day! Over half of my school has kids coming from low-Income households and don’t have the access they need for reading materials at home. They are in Kindergarten so it is vital to give them exposure to as much literacy as possible at this age to help them succeed to their full potential. They all have very different needs but their love for hands-on activities during our reading centers is universal. As we’re learning more about diagraphs and blends to help them advance their reading skills, they need more engaging activities that they can work on together as a group to develop and build more knowledge of these vital reading skills.
My Project
These materials will be used during my reading centers to keep my students engaged with hands-on activities, encourage them to work together and learn from each other, and will advance their reading skills. Diagraphs and blends can be very challenging for them to fully understand, and these activities will give them the opportunities that they need to really understand these concepts. This will help them to advance their reading skills and levels so that they will be more prepared for first grade. These activities can also help them grow more confident working in groups, sharing their ideas, and seeing how much they can learn from each other.
