My students need age-appropriate chapter books for independent reading. They need series books in order to develop a relationship with the characters, make connections between books, and develop a love of reading a fictional text.
My students are excited to become better readers during their second-grade year. They are beginning to enjoy longer books with more detailed characters, settings, and plots. Unfortunately, not all of my students have home access to books on their level.
My class consists of 23 hard working students that are eager to enter the world of fictional reading.
They crave adventure, mystery, humor, and fantasy. My students are just beginning to realize how many placed they can visit in this world by simply reading a book.
My goal is for my students to become a community of readers who not only read good books but also to write about them and recommend them to their classmates.
My Project
Grade-level and interest appropriate books are a MUST for any classroom. All of these chapter books will be used DAILY by my students now and during the years to come.
Students will become more confident and engaged readers through the use of fictional text in our classroom.
Students will be able to improve reading skills while reading something that is of great interest.
My 2nd graders will learn to travel to places all over the world by simply reading a book. Your donations will allow students to go on adventures with Jack and Annie (Magic Treehouse series), get silly with Amelia Bedelia, solve mysteries with Cam Jansen, and learn the importance of friendship with Henry and Mudge.
