Help me give my students guided reading book sets to offer them the opportunity to check out books in the classroom to help them improve their reading levels.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Eager to learn and motivated to read. My students are inquisitive they enjoy learning. They are creative and they come to school every day with the hope that they will be successful learners. They inspire me to work harder to be able to instill a passion for reading and learning.
My school is a low performing school in Miami Dade county Public School District, we are a Title I school and most of my students struggle to do their homework and to read books at home because they lack the computers and books that they need.
We have a diverse and a low socioeconomic population, but that does not impede our students from wanting to learn and work hard.
My Project
These books will help my students check out books to read at home and complete assignments that will reinforce the standards learned in their reading and writing class.
These guided reading collections will also help my differentiated learning centers, because it will give students an opportunity to sit at the library center and read books on their level and feel successful.
As I instill a passion for reading by telling students that reading can take you places, the books can actually allow students to read at home as a continuation of their reading in school. Students will improve their writing and their reading skills.
