Help me give my students the technology, chromebooks, they need for learning right now. Getting our students educated on using these kinds of tools while fostering their love for reading is critical for their future of learning.
Right now, I service children from Kindergarten to 3rd grade. Coming from a Title 1 school with over a 60% mobility rate - that does not stop our learning. My students are enthusiastic little learners who are eager to become proficient readers. I am a reading specialist on campus and my students are the ones who need the most support in the area of reading. My teaching partner and I meet in small groups with over 100 students daily to help teach/support them with reading skills and strategies.
My students have many challenges in and out of the school setting but I do not want reading to be them!
My Project
There are so many technology programs available to help students with specific skills while reaching each student at their individual ability levels. I want to give my students every opportunity to access these programs by incorporating more Chromebooks into our classroom. My students are so motivated to learn but rotating them through our available technology has been difficult. New Chromebooks would help my students explore new resources, develop their reading and language skills as well as helping them adapt to our increasingly technological world. Students will be able to access amazing programs like Imagine Learning, Read Theory, and Capit to help make reading more fun and hands on!
