My Students

My students represent a diverse microcosm of Nashville and bring excitement, joy and hope to my classroom every day. My students include great readers, inquisitive minds and some very strong writers.

What makes this group special is that I will be teaching them for the 2nd year in a row, and I really want to exceed the high levels of achievement we were able to attain last year.

My students are anxious to learn, and while some of them struggle as you would expect in any 4th grade class, they are a great group of hardworking youngsters who show promise and potential.

My Project

The materials I am requesting will provide my students with a broad spectrum of intellectual challenge and historical understanding.

By providing each student with his or her own individual copy of the books we are reading, we can more fully explore what motivated American patriots to start the Revolution; to better understand how a Native American youngster and a young American colonist grew up together; and how two young girls and their families work together to survive the Holocaust and build lifelong friendships.

Having these books will allow history to come alive in our classroom, from the American Revolution to World War II.
