This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are like flowers. They grow and bloom at diverse rates. Knowing this, I take educating them seriously and seek to provide the ultimate learning experiences for them. Our school is planted within a beautiful rural area known as Inverness, Mississippi. It is a small institution serving students with creative minds and astronomical hearts.
My scholars have an astronomical thirst for learning that extends beyond their small town.
Teaching 6th though 8th grade ELA affords me the opportunity to provide vicarious experiences where they can escape into other worlds. With that being said, I want my classroom to be a visual place of escape for my scholars.
Therefore, I need your assistance with making my classroom look and feel like a utopia for them.
My Project
The attractive bookshelves will house diverse genres of books in our reading lounge. Also, the lights will hang in the lounge to create a warm atmosphere of a starry sky. The contact paper will cover their desks and the top of the bookshelves. Lastly, the striped tablecloths will be made into curtains.
The idea is to create a safe and fun environment that welcomes students into the magnificent world of reading.
I seek to make every detail visually appealing and comfortable for them. Once they sit in their reading lounge, they will be able to relax and open their minds to the books they are reading.
