Ms. Williams from Cleveland MS is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students books that challenge their thinking and support instruction that supports equity and anti-racism! We need copies of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption.

A teacher takes a hand, opens a mind, and touches a heart! This is exactly what I want to do as a teacher. I want to be able to open the minds of my students and show them what the world has to offer.
I have the pleasure of teaching dynamic students who are all aspiring to become future teachers.
Our students work hard on a daily basis to learn everything they can about becoming an effective teacher. Being from an area that is poverty-stricken and has a high rate of high school dropouts, they are trying to beat the odds by becoming teachers and one day giving back to their community by providing children with a high-quality education.
My students work tirelessly performing duties, working on projects, serving as teacher assistants, and learning information that will provide them with a foundation for a teaching career.
In my class, Teacher Academy, students are introduced to issues that have existed in education. Within the curriculum, students are taught about teaching a diverse group of children and the struggles that some individuals have faced in order to receive a quality education. Allowing students to read deeper into these issues will allow them to understand the importance of equality for all by promoting equity and anti-racism. The project will allow me to obtain a class set of the book Just Mercy. I will be able to use the book as a part of instruction in Unit 4: History & Trends in American Education. The students will be able to read about the struggles of individuals seeking justice, equity, and fighting for their freedom.
