My kindergarten students have not been in school since the mid-March. I did my best to create at home packets for my students, not realizing that we would not be returning for the remaining of the school year. We have been virtually learning using our home computers and tablets.
My students read books online, but it is important for students to have actual books in their hands.
Within our classroom, we use the workshop model and students have access to many books. Giving my students at level books will foster the continuation of the workshop model at home.
My Project
My students loved reading in our classroom during reading workshop. They have become amazing readers and writers and are continuing their hard work at home. I am so proud of all their hard work during distance learning!
Having tangible and engaging books at home, will help my students become stronger readers and encourage them to practice strategies that I am teaching them remotely.
My students adore Elephant and Piggie books and would be so excited to receive these to foster home reading workshop. They are ready to read this higher level books which will encourage them to practice reading strategies. Knuffle Bunny is a kindergarten favorite that will serve as an excellent mentor text to model writing strategies and author craft moves.
