My students range from 4th-6th grade and all receive special education services. My students are extremely hardworking, but often lack access to reading materials to practice reading at home. They never give up and come to school each day excited and ready to learn.
My students are always ready for any type of challenge and are extremely optimistic in their learning.
They are a group that truly always gives their very best effort in everything that they do, and for that, I am very proud of them. Many of my students are interested in reading, and want to continue to read and better their skills at home.
My Project
These books will allow my students to practice reading at home. I teach 4th-6th grade special education at an inner city charter school in Cleveland, OH where many of our students come from low-income households.
After talking with my students, many expressed that they do not have adequate access to books or other print materials at home to practice reading outside of school, even though they would like to.
My students are very hardworking, motivated, and caring and I know that they would be very grateful to have print materials to take home to practice reading. They truly do want to get better at reading and to continue to read is the best way to do just that!
