Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
This year I have 18 curious, active and inquisitive kiddos in my Title I school. They are always looking for new perspectives to solve a problem and ways to work together, even in their new virtual school setting. Our diverse classroom has mostly Spanish speaking students from Central America, but also African American and Asian American students. They come to school virtually each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. They are the reason I come to work everyday!
My Project
This school year has been tough. Our Title 1 Kindergarteners have been learning from home all year and have really shown perseverance! Every day I turn on my computer and they show me why I keep going. Their energy, kindness, and love for learning shine through their screens everyday!
Many in my students have very few to no actual books at home.
This group of tenacious five year olds have worked very hard learning how to read through online platforms and virtual books, but deserve to have that connection you make when you are holding that adventure in your own hands. My students already have shown an astonishing interest in independent reading through virtual books, and this project will only help enrich their experiences with the printed word while in their own homes.
