Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I work at a Title I school were many students come to school in need. Sometimes they need a hug, sometimes food, and sometimes they just need someone to care. I love working with my students. They are full of love and ready to learn!
My students are often in need of supplies of many kinds.
I spend much of my summer and breaks searching for good deals on simple things like spiral notebooks and pencils as well as fun pencil pouches and great used books to add to our class library. Many of my students don't have books to read at home and spend most of their time at school reading for fun!
My Project
We need some simple, low to the ground chairs, for our reading area. I love to use this as a reward for students who have finished their work and have extra time. They will be allowed to sit and read in a special chair! They love stuff like this! It is super motivating.
We also need a new doorstop that actually works!
Our doorstop slides all the time and is very difficult for my students or me to manage. Another teacher at our school has the ice cream cone doorstop and it works great and is easy for her students to use. Students love helping anyway they can in the classroom.
