Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am the writing teacher for three classes with about twenty students in each class. We are constantly working on grammar, punctuation, and how to write a story. My students are struggling to become amazing writers and I am hoping some resources could help make that happen. We usually do this while sitting in groups. The students seem to benefit from the group arrangement because they can share ideas, peer tutor, and help each other create amazing stories.
My classroom was affected by Hurricane Harvey.
We had rough year last year and we are hoping to make this one a GREAT ONE. Our school is full of amazing and talented students that we hope to help make successful this year and every year to follow.
My Project
I would like to use the TIME For Kids Magazine as a resource for writing. We will have many uses for the magazine. We will first use it as a way to stay informed on current events. I believe students need to know what is going on in the world, so they will begin to care about the world.
The most important reason, we need the magazine is to help us become amazing writers.
When students look through the magazine, they will see examples of great writing. I believe if they can identify great writing then they will be able to write in the same way.
We will also use our magazine as a resource. We will be conducting a research process and I would like the students to be exposed to many different resources.
