Help me give my students headphones to help them listen to articles that are modified to fit their needs. The microphones included in the set will help them with "talk to text" since they have trouble writing.
Our classroom is located in the heart of southwestern PA. I am a teacher of a lively life skills classroom servicing 15 students with special needs. My students come from a variety of backgrounds, but one thing they all have in common; they all come to school to learn and have fun!
My students are lucky enough to have chromebooks with apps to help them read and write, but they require headphones with microphones to go with them.
They have disabilities such as down syndrome, autism, cerebral palsy and intellectual disabilities. Many of them are in wheelchairs and/or are non-verbal. This doesn't stop them though, they give their best each and every day!
My Project
My students have difficulty reading and writing and require technology that can do it for them. Their chromebooks are equipped with extensions that will summarize reading materials on their grade level.I need the headphones to provide sound-cancelling benefits from the students around them.
My students sometimes get frustrated reading and writing and I hope to take some of the stress away from what comes with their disabilities.
These headphones will help them concentrate on what is being read to them and the microphones will capture their thoughts and words and turn them into text. Once finished, the technology will read it back to them to be fixed. It makes their lives much easier!
