Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am very fortunate to teach a class of 18 amazing first graders. Our students attend an inner-city, Title I, French Dual Language school. They come from a variety of beautiful ethnic backgrounds and bring much of their culture with them. Many of them also come from homes with limited resources.
Our students are unique because they come from bilingual homes and are currently learning a third language.
They spend half of their instructional day learning in English and the other half learning in French.
Our district is currently providing education through remote instruction and is also providing our students with free breakfast, lunch, and supper.
My Project
My first graders have been resilient and dedicated during online learning. They are eager to continue to learn and need meaningful learning tools to use at home.
My project goal is to provide my students with daily writing journals to use for either synchronous or asynchronous instruction.
These writing journals have a daily prompt that will help students develop analytical and critical thinking skills. I would also like, word family flip charts, to help my students strengthen their reading and writing skills. Thank you for considering donating to my project.
