Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students at our school are extremely enthusiastic learners. They are full of life and their love for learning is catching! They love to have hands-on, engaging learning activities for every subject in school.
From the moment they walk in the door in the morning, they are ready to learn and find out what the day has for them.
Their go-get-'em attitude is infectious. Everyone wants to be them! They have so much fun with their learning and make it their own!
My students are from low socioeconomic households as more than 80% of them qualify for free or reduced-price lunches. School is their place to be themselves and grow as little people!
My Project
Some students have the ability to catch on to reading without the help of visual aides, but others need help. Color overlay reading strips, can help a struggling reader with visualizing the letters correctly and help with fluently reading the text they need to read, especially those diagnosed with dyslexia. Tracking with finger tips is essential to blending letter sounds when reading too! Comprehension blocks will help with revisiting their knowledge of what happened in the stories they read as well.
All students deserve to use tools that will enable the, to learn the best they can.
Struggling writers can benefit from tools such as story starters and pencil grips. Not all students learn the same, so the use of all of these tools will help those who need a little bit of help to enable them to learn the best they can.
