My Students

Every day my students spend a big part of their day gathered together at the carpet area for a mini-lesson about reading, writing, and sometimes social studies or science. Students need a functional space to engage in learning, talking, reading and writing. Together, we create anchor charts on large chart paper and use these posters to reference these skills throughout the school year.

My students love the way these anchor charts serve as gentle reminders for them while doing independent work.

My Project

I believe all students learn and engage more when they are comfortable and feel part of our classroom family. Some of our best learning, sharing and teaching is done not at our desks, but at our rug area. This student/teacher easel will make teaching more organized and flexible, and allow the students to interact with one another. This portable teaching easel will give us a place to create and refer back to our class-created "anchor charts" as we learn new concepts. These anchor charts will later be hung around the classroom for the students to reference during their independent work.
