Help me give my students some sight word talking boards, 2 center storage pocket charts, reading highlighting strips, sight word bingo level 1, English Language writing center, and thin-line write and wipe markers; all used for centers.
My first graders are ambitious and love to learn. They constantly ask if they are going to learn to read this year, which makes me so happy to see their excitement about reading. They also love to get involved with math and science activities. This year will be about achieving their personal academic goals, and also finding out what subjects each student loves, and building upon those interests. Cross-curricular is my goal.
My students are sweet and caring, while being inquisitive and eager to learn new things!
They come from different backgrounds, and many of them are still affected by Hurricane Harvey in some way. I would love for them to feel that the classroom is a happy and fun place, and a place to not worry about home stressors.
My Project
Some of these materials are for center activities for reading and writing, others will be used for whole class instruction. These activities are necessary for student comprehension. The sight word bingo, sight word talking boards, center storage pocket chart, English language writing center, and the write and wipe thin-line markers will all be used during reading and writing center activities to help students read or write better. The reading highlighting strips will be used during independent work, group work, guided reading, or even at reading centers. These are for my students who need a little extra help reading.
My students ask everyday when they will be able to learn to read and write.
I tell them, right now they are learning the basics for reading and writing, but to them that just isn't soon enough. They are beyond excited to learn how to read and write. This project is a bit of a continuation of my previous project, "Read and Write with all YOUR might."
