My students are everyday kids.
They love to learn, read, and write. While they have some difficulties, they never give up on what is asked of them. My students come from different grade levels, but if you walked in our room, you wouldn't know that. They are one happy family of students. These kids can bring a smile to your face on the gloomiest of days. They like to please and are eager to learn. Our school is in a larger district in Iowa. We have a very close community that has that small town atmosphere. Our minion themed classroom is home to ten students at the moment, with more expected this fall. We have a K-5 building that includes three different special needs programs, in which one of these programs houses these students. They come from all walks of life. Even though they all have unique needs, they are best group of kids a teacher could ask for!
My Project
The reading and writing binders will allow my students to keep all the materials in one place. Since our room is limited in space, the students do not have individual desks, so storing folders and materials is a problem for us. By having the binder storage shelving, we will be able to keep our binders all in one place that easily accessed by the students. The binders will allow the students to keep materials handy for both the reading block and writing block, as well as allow the teacher to check in on progress. The writing binder will be able to have materials placed into the binder before instruction begins, so students are prepared at the start of every lesson and ready to go at the end of it.
By getting these binders and storage, students will be able to see growth they have made, which they will be able to share at conferences and IEP meetings.
They will also have a sense of where things belong in our limited space. This will be able to be reused year after year creating lasting instruction for each student.
