My students need opportunities to read about current events and Scholastic News brings interesting current topics to them for reading, comprehension, and activity opportunities. Recess equipment builds team skills and cooperation.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My 3rd grade classroom is a place where students can come and learn and feel safe and loved. We are part of a Title 1 school serving a low income community population that also deals with a high transient population. In our class we work together to build a classroom community of friendship and learning. My students are a caring group that always amaze me with their generosity and kindness. All of my students always go above and beyond to help their classmates and ensure that they are successful in all that they do.
As their teacher I do all that I can to facilitate and differentiate their learning and make every lesson memorable.
I live for the 'aha' moments when the concept clicks with a student and they understand it. Having the material to be able to enhance their learning experience would make learning more successful and fun for my students.
My Project
Recess equipment provides opportunities for team building skills and cooperation while keeping them active outdoors. In an age of technology when so many students sit and isolate themselves with games online, there needs to be opportunities for them to interact in a positive way with peers. Sports also help teach good sportsmanship and create positive interactions among students. Therefore I am requesting footballs, a Cheetah Kickball, Scoop Ball Sets and Soccer Balls.
My students also love to know what is happening in the world around them and having news stories from Scholastic News that peak their interest will get them reading and also inform them about their world.
Writing additions to their reading centers such as cursive and comprehension boost their writing and ELA skills.
