My students need 45 books at various levels for our independent reading time. Our favorites titles include Katie Woo, Clifford, Mr. Putter and Tabby, and Ivy and Bean.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is filled with adorable second graders, who are ready to learn and excited to be at school each day.
I work at a small Title I school located in Southern California.
A majority of my students receive free or reduced priced lunch and come from households where English isn't their first language. We are a Kinder through 6th grade AVID school, where we focus on getting students college and career ready. Resources are limited at my school but we always come together and make it work for our students.

My students have fallen love with certain series in our library and I want to keep that love for reading going.
This project would allow for me to provide my students with a variety of engaging books at their reading level. I plan to use these books daily during our DEAR (Drop Everything and Read) block. During this time, the students will have 15 to 20 minutes to drop everything and read. The 15-20 minutes allows me the opportunity to pull small groups and support students in reading skills they need. Students will also be able to take Online quizzes designed specifically for their book. The quizzes will provide direct feedback and they will be able to earn points. Having a good selection of books will be motivating and engaging for all of my students.
