My students need high interest independent reading books, sets of guided reading books, practice cards, and nonfiction reading scripts to build up their literacy knowledge!
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Although I have not met my second graders yet, they are going to be world changers. Our school is reopening this year with wonderful teachers, supportive administrators, and most importantly, intelligent students. Second grade is a pivotal year in elementary school. Students transition from learning to read to reading to learn.
My students are ready to make their mark on the world by making grand academic strides and becoming leaders in the community.
They have a unique experience of being the first second grade class of the reopened Villa Heights Elementary School!
My Project
My students need books and lots of them! Our school is opening as a Title One school with many students reading below grade level. These books, reading comprehension practice cards, and partner scripts, will make reading more fun! When students are not interested in what they are learning they are less motivated and more likely to fall behind.
These literacy resources are engaging and exciting!
My students are going to have a two hour literacy block every day to ensure they make strong growth in reading, writing, spelling, and vocabulary. I will help students at their specific reading levels which is why this project has so many different levels and varieties! I know all of these resources will be a huge help to my students!
