Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the best people I have ever met. They greet me each morning with a smile, a hug and demand to know what we are doing today. My students are enthusiastic learners, but school is not easy for them. My students live in one of the worst cities in New Jersey due to crime, but they don't let that hold them back.
My students are an inspiration.
Each day, I learn something new about one of them and I wonder how I would handle it if I was in their shoes. They are remarkable kids who deserve to have a learning environment that is safe, fun and engaging.
My Project
I am a very lucky teacher. My students LOVE to read so much, that now have a need to update my library. Our project is looking for fun and engaging books, including a Ronald Dahl collection, to foster and maintain my student's love of learning. We are also requesting a standing desk for presentations, grid chart paper for student work (small) and group work (large).
My students do not have much, so my classroom acts as a haven where they have access to many books and a way to express themselves through their work.
My students learn better when they can get their hands on interesting books and interactive activities.
