My Students

This is my second year teaching in a low income/high poverty school where there are limited resources and limited funds to promote extra reading and math in the classroom. I would love for all my students to have the same opportunities as other schools in our district that have a higher income level. These students come to school often times to get a positive opportunity to learn and grow and leave their personal life behind.

I want my students to come to school and find it a place of comfort, love and acceptance no matter what they have at home.

These students deserve to have the best so they can get the better each and every day at school. Our attendance rate is up this year for most of our students in my class and their excitement to learn is noted from many of their families. I am rewarded with hugs each day and growth each assessment from every student no matter how big or small.

My Project

Within this project, we are requesting for on level and below level books. By using levels J-K books, my students will be able to work on their enjoyment of reading and catching up to be on grade level. These books that are leveled will make a HUGE difference in my students classroom by allowing them to have a larger selection of on level books. We are also asking for math manipulatives, such as math write and wipe boards and linking cubes, to help them get a deeper understanding of their math work and concept of numbers. Students are currently working on place value and linking cubes would help build this concept. The last objects we are requesting for are partition boards which will help them work independently and have a quiet space.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
