My third grade students have worked extremely hard this year on mastering math and reading skills. These resources could help push their skills beyond proficient and prepare them for fourth grade.
The school I work at is a Title 1 school, which means that 100% of our students are economically disadvantaged.
The students in my classroom are very bright, energetic, and hardworking kiddos. Our school has a heavy focus on reading and mathematics, so it is important to keep these subjects fun and fast paced. With two hours dedicated to each subject each day, it can be tricky to hold their attention. Math and reading centers that provide tangible concepts helps to reinforce that learning, can and is fun.
My Project
My students will use these resources throughout their school day. The focus in third grade in math is fractions, numeration, money, and time. The resources I have selected will help further their understanding of these concepts and will help them to better understand more abstract problems. In reading, we are working on understanding how to infer information when reading stories. Our students struggle with reading at a third grade level so this can prove to be challenging. Using a learning resource focused on understanding inferences will help strengthen my students' reading and comprehension skills.
The donations to this project will continue to encourage my students to work hard and to see that learning IS fun!
They will become better mathematicians and readers with these tools.
