Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are some of the best people I have ever met. They greet me each morning with a smile, a hug and demand to know what we are doing today. My students are enthusiastic learners, but school is not easy for them. My students live in one of the worst cities in New Jersey due to crime, but they don't let that hold them back.
My students are an inspiration.
Each day, I learn something new about one of them and I wonder how I would handle it if I was in their shoes. They are remarkable kids who deserve to have a learning environment that is safe, fun and engaging.
My Project
Being able to read allows every person the ability to live life successfully. Getting children to read, however, can be daunting. My students like to read books that interest them, which means that my library is running out of books in the series that they love to read during independent reading. As a new teacher, I have struggled with filling my library with different types of books hoping that something will grab my students' attention. Now that I have their attention, I don't want to lose it.
Please help me provide my students with books that they love so they can continue their love of reading.
Also, we are in need of some headphones for students to use while using our small group computers. Being able to hear the questions, instead of just reading them can make all of the difference in some of my students' lives.
