As a teacher working in a Title I school, it has become a hardship planning creative lessons and activities without the essential supplies needed. My students may be on different levels in mathematics and reading, but they try extremely hard to complete most tasks. They work with a partner and have learned to help each other when reading or during math exercises that may be challenging. This drive to be helpful speaks volumes for my students.
At recess, my students will bring down a book to read on rainy days.
They will read with other students and discuss what occurred in the next chapter. As I pick up the class they are able to provide information about the events of the next chapter. Our classroom has developed into a culture in which students are very intuned to their learning. They have become innovative thinkers and helpful to their peers while working collaboratively. Despite the many challenges they may face in their day to day life, my goal is to provide them with a safe, nurturing space with quality for learning.
The materials I am requesting will be used to store the CD's players and headphones for students. As my students return to school, they will need to have easy access to listen to the assigned text on CD's while listening to engaging books. As students become more comfortable returning to school and following some new daily routines, implementing these listening center storage, these items will make transitioning easier.
A listening center should be a haven in which students can go to a quiet area to find respite in a book doing a trying time.
As students are reading and listening to the texts within their designated reading groups, these materials will enable students to store items, keep contents organized, and more accessible to placed items back. Books and books on CDs should be a part of students' academic learning as students are beginning to learn how to read, listen to a reader read with fluency, and learn how to pronounce words which may be more challenging.
