My Students

Do you remember how excited you were when you learned how to read, the first time you read a book to your parents and how proud they were of you? I need your help in bringing those feeling to my students in my classroom.

My students attend first grade in an early learning center housing Kindergarten and first graders only.

Our building is full of life and energy with around 400 five to eight year olds. We have nine Kindergarten teachers and ten first grade teachers. My students come from various incomes but mostly are of low income families.

My Project

My students will greatly benefit from the King Series books in this project by improving their reading. I have requested new books for reading and audio books for listening. My lower students will be able to sit and have a book read to them and this will increase their language and reading skills. The average and above average students will be have increased number of reading resources in their interest which will also increase their reading and language skills.

This project is very important because my students deserve every opportunity to increase their reading and language skills.

This project will do just that. They will have the ability to read from new books of various interest and also listen in a well organized listening center to hear books on audio. Not only will they become better readers but they will become better students. Their self confidence will increase with their ability to read. My students will be able to better their situations.
