This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am in a rural school in Alabama. Most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Our school is a Title I school due to the high poverty in the area. Many of my students have never traveled out of their county.
Reading and Early Math will give the students the opportunity to read stories, answer questions, and will allow the children to use manipulatives and their imagination to read and math.
This will also allow them to brainstorm. The learning is more concrete when they can see they have the opportunity to create.
My Project
My students are reading early readers book. This project and manipulatives will help the students need to explore essential math concepts in one convenient library. The tubs are filled with a huge variety of manipulatives designed to provide lots of active hands-on experience and measuring, which requires simple and early reading. Children will learn to develop skills in reading, counting, comparing, sorting, patterns, geometry, addition, subtraction and money skills.
Children are eager to learn and early reading will help the students accomplish integrating reading and math together.
Hand-on manipulatives are a great way to read simple directions.
