My students are an amazing group of diverse kindergartners.
They attend a Title I school in North Carolina where 100% receive free lunch and breakfast.
Many of our children have limited exposure to anything outside of their neighborhoods. However, they are sponges just wanting to have the opportunity to soak up everything available to them. They are very inquisitive about the world and how things work. That is why we need to provide them with every opportunity available to help them learn about the world we live in, not just their neighborhood.
My Project
It is my desire to provide them with every opportunity available to help them become better readers while expressing and showing off their individual creativity. That is why I am requesting leveled books and art materials such as paint and glitter spray. My students will use these materials to create and show case their art for our Writing Celebration. Kindergarten has become so overwhelmed with academics that we sometimes forget that these children are just that children and they need an outlet to express themselves. For many children that outlet is through art. By having these materials my children will be able to express themselves and show case it for all to see.
