Help me give my students a successful interactive read aloud experience with these amazing books. Each book will be used to teach reading skills that will help the students think beyond the stories.
My students attend a Title I school in the town of Wetumpka, Alabama. My students come from very diverse backgrounds. The majority of the students in my class come from low income neighborhoods. While the parents of my students try to provide as many resources as possible, many are simply not able to provide all that is needed in today's world. Providing more resources to these students would open up a world of new opportunities for them to be successful in the world today!
My Project
Read alouds are an awesome way to motivate, encourage, excite, build background, develop comprehension, and aide students in making connections to books. Read alouds also serve as a model to the students on how fluent reading should sound, which is so important to becoming a good reader.
Reading aloud is one of the most important things teachers can do with students!
Reading aloud builds many important foundational skills, introduces vocabulary, and helps students recognize what reading for pleasure is all about.
The books I would like to receive for our classroom will build all these skills and more. Each book I have selected is not only a great book, but I have prepared a lesson to go along with each one to reinforce the reading skills taught in 2nd grade.
