This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are eager, excitable second graders. They come from close-knit yet economically challenged neighborhoods. Our school is generational and some of the students we teach today are the children of students from years ago.

We strive everyday to provide diverse, culturally expansive, inclusive lessons that help our students learn and grow without being hindered by the challenges of our daily lives.

Teachers at our school work very hard to provide the best possible learning environment to help our students fall in love with learning.

My Project

My students love reading! While some are able to read independently, some have challenges that do not allow them to enjoy reading as much. The students will use these CD players and headphones in the listening center which will provide a differentiated reading experience for each of them.

Having a listening center in our classroom will give my students the opportunity to improve their literacy skills in a fun and engaging way.

Listening to reading helps struggling students to develop reading comprehension skills, since they do not have to focus on text decoding in order to read the story. My students would love to be able to expand our literacy centers and embark on a reading adventure through technology.
