I serve Kindergarten through 2nd grade students that struggle to read in a Title 1 funded intervention program. Our school is mostly comprised of high poverty students that are not fortunate enough to have the reading materials at home to spark their curiosity and love for reading.
Their transformation so far this year has been so heartwarming.
Watching a child learn to love reading and explore the world through text is so special.
My students are incredibly hard working, dedicated to learning, and are creative thinkers. They deserve the best instruction and I hope to provide that to them by getting these materials funded.
My Project
My goal is to make books and reading materials easily accessible to all my students. By funding this project, you will help me help my students strengthening their reading strategies at home.

A lot of my students do not have access to these materials at home. These bags and sentence highlighters will be something the students can take home every day. I will be able to fill the pouches with materials and books to help them practice and reinforce what they are learning in small group. The sentence highlighters will be used to help isolate words and sentences to help students track print and isolate text. This will also give parents and families an opportunity to connect with their children and work with text and materials that are appropriate for the individual student.
