Ms. Hooker-Shepherd from Oklahoma City OK is requesting books through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need their own copy of Charlotte's Web to complete a class project, which includes reading the novel, analyzing story structure, creating a diorama, and presenting to the class.

My students enjoy coming to class every day. I make school exciting for them; consequently, they deliver their best efforts. Many of my students live with grandparents, other relatives, or working parents that aren't always available. I put forth my best effort daily to ensure they have a safe comfortable environment in our classroom. I encourage personal and academic development simultaneously. Teaching is my passion!
Despite challenging circumstances, my 3rd graders are happy and creative individuals.
They are independent thinkers that strive to do their best. I want to give them all the tools and resources they need to succeed.
My students really enjoy reading Charlotte's Web. We study the story structure, analyze characters, learn new vocabulary, and share reading for book discussions. Every year I am short on the amount of books that I need. Third graders are territorial and prefer to read from their own copy of the book, especially since they are responsible for the upkeep. Having individual copies will allow students personal time to search through the text as they complete text related activities without having to rush. Additionally, students feel more connected to the project knowing that they are responsible for their book and the related assignments.
