I work in a small, rural school in Illinois. We are a Title I school located in a low-income area, with over 50% of our students receiving free or reduced-price lunch. Our students are eager to learn despite their economic situations.
This year I have 24 students and as with all classes, I have a variety of learning styles and abilities in my room.
I am very excited to meet the needs of my students by offering a variety of books at different levels.
My Project
This year, I am trying to help my students find books that interest them. When students enjoy reading, they want to read more and become better at it. Keeping newer books my students want to read on my bookshelf is getting harder over the years. Books start to fall apart after so many years and need to be replaced regularly.
Discovering a love for reading can be an adventure that lasts a lifetime.
