My students are a fun loving friendly group of students. Working at a title one school most of my students receive free or reduced lunch. Coming from families of various lifestyles they are constantly encouraging each other and bringing out the best in each other. Despite any differences or limitations that my students face, they are always willing to go above and beyond what is expected of them. They realize that within our classroom walls they are a family. Day in and day out they model our PIRATE pledge. "We are: Prepared, Inspired, Respectful, and Together Everyone Succeeds. We Are Pirates!"
In fourth grade students are expected to learn about the state they live in. The history of it, geography, important land marks, and people who have a connection to the state are all part of the curriculum. Working at a title one school I am requesting books and resources to help my student's learn more about the great state they live in.
From Colonial times to the Wright Brothers flight at Kitty Hawk, I want my students to experience all that North Carolina has to offer.
Resources for this project will help my students learn more about North Carolina and allow their learning to expand farther than what the text book has to offer. Items in this project will be used not only for read aloud, but students will be able to use resources to create a project about the state of North Carolina.
