We are a wonderful little school with an incredible student body. We have students from all walks of life and they all bring valuable experiences and knowledge to our school. Our library services students in grades kindergarten through fifth grade. They are smart and are learning skills needed in today's educational setting.
Our school is listed as a Title I school due to the amount of students on free and reduced lunch.
Many of our students do not have extra money to purchase technology at home. Often times, the school setting is the main source of instruction on how to use technology. As our students get older, technology is relied on more heavily in the middle and high school grades.
Our students are wonderful: Kind, smart, and loving. I love teaching each and every student at our school.
My Project
Common Core Curriculum has a large focus on informational text and learning how to read and decode it using text features. Time for Kids provides weekly opportunities for students to connect to the world by reading about current events.
Reading about current events is a perfect way for students to get involved in the world and grow as readers with informational text.
Time for Kids brings the world to our students using kid friendly terms that help students understand the content while the text features help students decode the information.
This weekly reader will spark discussion in the classroom and hopefully at home. Our students of today are our leaders of tomorrow. Helping them become aware of their surroundings at a young age will provide a life long desire to continue learning as they grow.
