So many Americans have devoted and often sacrificed their lives to keep our country free and safe. My students are in awe of these men and women and want to learn more about what they do at work.
My third-graders are working on becoming better readers and thinkers by reading a variety of books.
Many of my students are apprehensive about reading information books, because it is a new genre for them. As third-graders, they are required to be familiar with a variety of genres.
My Project
With these exciting new books about the different branches of the U.S. Armed Forces and the special divisions within each branch, my students will be motivated and excited to read, think, and learn. My students will activate and build their background knowledge, ask questions, practice monitoring for meaning, and determine importance, among other essential thinking skills.
