My school has a high percentage of free and reduced-price lunch recipients.
We also have a large diversity of cultural and ethnic backgrounds. This year, I have a mixed ability group consisting of nine boys and eleven girls. Some have grasped reading skills at a faster rate than others, and some need a little more time. They are eager to learn.
My Project
I teach first graders. For this project my students will read and learn about animals through science. Many of my students have never seen most animals therefore they cannot develop a sense of compassion. My plan is for my students to learn and study about animals so they can grow up understanding how each animal contributes to the world- especially insects. These materials will help bring the animals to my students where they can read and learn about each one. The VR and AR flash cards will bring the animals to life. The books will show my students how each animal is different and unique to the world.
