I am a teacher in a low-income, high poverty school where students rely heavily on the structure of their school day. My focus is to provide them with as much stability as possible. The classroom demographics include: ESL students, 504 students and Title I students. Each of these children receive multiple, various types of modifications throughout the course of the school day.
Personally, I feel extremely compelled to make sure each of these students' needs are met in literacy.
My classroom is filled with multiple sensory learners and I would like to provide them with flexible seating and more options in our classroom library.
My Project
Since I have moved to a new classroom, I am currently trying to stock up on high interest chapter books for my students to choose from. The books I choose are some of my favorites and I know they will enjoy them, also! I would love a round conference table in order for my students to work together on projects and reader's workshop. During reader's workshop, they complete various assignments in order to critique and analyze various forms of literature. The round table will also be beneficial for my students and myself to conference and collaborate together on their work.
