My students need this Swivl so we can create "on demand" lessons for the different reading skills we learn and practice throughout the year.

This year, I will teach roughly 120 students who are struggling readers. These students tend to get a bad rap by others but all they need is the ability to find text that interest them to get this start. As a former struggling reader, I understand the frustration of trying to find books I like or that can help me grow in my reading level. Due to this, I want to help them reach for the starts and bust through the ceiling.
At SSCMS, our goal is to build a community of lifelong learners, problem solvers and leaders.
This involves every teacher helping every student to reach new highs and reach goals that we set for ourselves. We can do this by meeting the students where they are at and to get them engaged in learning. This is my goal for every project I create and every assignment I give. My students won't thrive on busy work, they need hands on interactive activities!
Students in my County who are in reading class end up there because they are a struggling reader. It is our job to teach them the skills and strategies they need to become more successful readers. As reading teachers, we use readers workshop and have mini-lessons prior to practicing these skills. I would love to use the Swivl to help record not only my mini-lessons but also students who excel at practicing these skills.
In the day and age where we go YouTube for everything, I would love to create a reserve of videos that my students can visit anytime when they are practicing skills.
I can record our mini-lessons and put them on our class website that would allow my students to stregthen the skills they need to become better readers. I would love to make my lessons "on-demand" so the students have lessons at their fingertips.
