Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Do you remember what it was like the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? Many of my students have yet to discover their love for reading and books. With more books to choose from on their level, my students could finally find the type of books that open up a new world for them!

My school is the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) magnet for our county.

Our population represents students with a strong passion for inquiry and learning; however, many of them come from households high in poverty. It is important for the students to experience literature in as many different ways as possible when they come to school. For some, it may be their only experiences with books and text. My students have broad range of subject matter that interests them when it comes to reading. For Reader's Workshop, my students will have heavy duty canvas bags filled with books that they read and complete activities with each week. They get to choose their books from our classroom library using their reading levels and their interests. However, our classroom library is very limited. My students need a variety of leveled books. By funding this project, you would help build and diversify this library!

My Project

Some students have a natural passion for reading. Other students take a lot of work to find books that engage them. My goal is to provide reading engagement for every child in my class! I want them to love books and have a passion for lifelong learning through reading. Too many students leave school without being proficient readers. Your donation would help solve this problem! Finding that hook at a young age will build a love for reading in each of my students.

Please consider donating to my class project!

Leveled books will be an exciting addition to my classroom library! The students will love having their own book bags in which to store their books for reader's workshop. You could make a difference in a child's life!
